Hearst Castle

Santa Lucia Mountains' Hearst Castle

Resting high on a hilltop of California's Santa Lucia Mountains, Hearst Castle commands a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and San Simeon Bay. Casa Grande stands 137 feet tall and features 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools and walkways. Elephant Seals

Perhaps the most  compelling attraction for human visitors to Ano Nuevo State Reserve is the large colony of northern elephant seals that assembles here each winter. So named of their large size and long pendulous noses on the males. These large animals spend most of their time at sea, coming ashore only to molt, give birth and mate.

Mount Sneffels

Colorado, Mount Sneffels. At 14,150 feet Mount Sneffels is one f the highest peaks in southwestern Colorado's San Juan Mountains. As a member of Colorado's list of fourteeners - peaks 14,000 feet and higher - it is a lofty challenge for even advanced hikers.
